Luxembourg, one of the three institutional seats of the European Union, hosts since May 2024 “Erliefnes Europa – Europa Experience” — an interactive visitors’ centre set up by the European Parliament and the European Commission.
This centre in the heart of the European district on Kirchberg invites visitors to explore in a fun and interactive way how Europeans collaborate to address major challenges. Using state-of-the-art multimedia, “Erliefnes Europa” explains what the EU is, how the EU works, and what the EU stands for.
Citizens can also discover how it affects their daily lives, and how we, as citizens, can play a role in shaping its future.
Admission is free, and all content is available in the EU’s 24 official languages, with several parts additionally in Luxembourgish.
Since its opening, Europa Experience Luxembourg has welcomed over 50,000 visitors, from more than 120 countries. Located in the European Parliament’s Konrad Adenauer Building in Kirchberg, the centre offers several ways for individual visitors and groups several ways to explore European politics.
For groups, we offer:
- General EU presentation (1 hour): Learn how the EU functions in a session led by EU Staff;
- Role-Play Game (2 hours): Step into the shoes of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) in a realistic simulation of EU decision-making (for 16–32 participants; available in all official EU languages);
- Guided Visit (1 hour): Gain in-depth insights into the EU and its institutions.
Individual visitors can also explore the centre freely from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All installations are designed to be intuitive and accessible for persons with disabilities.
The stations are the following:
- 360° Cinema: for an immersive movie experience;
- Virtual Reality Googles: which let you experience the daily life of an MEP;
- Interactive Europa Map: scan the map with our tablets and discover the important locations of the EU’s history and EU programmes;
- Institutional Triangle: learn how the three main EU institutions interact and work together for our common interest;
- The EU and You: see what place your country occupies within the Union, which programs have been financed by the EU in your region, what projects are currently ongoing;
- EU in real time: learn about what is currently happening in the EU in real time;
- Multimedia Corner: simply sit down and watch thematic videos portraying EU’s action in the different areas;
- Photo booth: take a picture, choose a suiting quote, and share it across Europe!
- The Wall of MEPs and Commissioners: find all the 720 members of parliament, the 28 members of the Commission as well as their engagements and actions within our Union.
