Fred Huet

The ‘Associations of interests Binsfeld-Holler-Breidfeld’ was founded in 1977. The very next year, Fred Huet became a member of the board and was fully committed to the interests of the villagers of the three villages in question. After an eleven-year break (1986-1996), Fred once again became a member of the association’s board. Since then, Fred has put his heart and soul into his work and it is impossible to imagine the association’s board without him. The ‘ordinary’ member became Vice-President in 2005, and only 5 years later he took on the role of President, a position he still holds today.

During his time as Vice President, he was a great initiator of the potato festival in Binsfeld and thanks to his tireless efforts, this festival has been taking place for over 20 years and has become very well known. He also acted as president of the potato festival for a few years and is a highly motivated presenter of this day year after year – you could even say he is the voice of the potato festival.

In his role as President of the ‘Association of interests Binsfeld-Holler-Breidfeld’, he planned the reopening of the country museum ‘A Schiewiesch’ with passion and ambition between 2012 and 2015. Just 6 years later, after an intensive planning phase, Fred was also involved almost daily in the renovation work on the ‘Holiday Home Museum Binsfeld’. Anyone who thinks he rested between these two major projects probably doesn’t know him well. With a lot of heart and love, he made a significant contribution to the creation of our Dutch exhibition ‘Klompen in de koestal’.

Fred is a keen advocate of close cooperation between all partners to jointly promote local and regional tourism. He spares no effort to promote the entire region and to honour its valuable cultural heritage. He is also a passionate guide at the country museum ‘A Schiewesch’ and is always available for all the staff on site.
